Prime Bank Limited Sunday May 20, 2012 launched its’ new product ‘Prime Cash’ with the slogan ‘My Bank in My Hands’ aiming to provide banking services to the unbanked rural and urban people with the simple finger touch. A press conference was organized in this connection at a city hotel in the capital.

Managing Director of the bank Mr. Ehsan Khasru, additional managing director Mr. M Reazul Karim, deputy managing directors Mr. Tabarak Hossain Bhuiyan and Mr. Quazi ASM Anisul Kabir and chief executive officer of Dipon Consultancy Services (DCS), the technical partner of the bank in this project, Mr. Rashed Mahmud were present on the occasion. Head of ADC, VP Mr. Salahuddin Ahmed presented the applications of Prime Cash while head of IT, EVP Mr. Iqbal Hossain presented the technological security and other technical aspects of the service.

Users of biometric smart cards, the first of its’ kind in the country, will be able to deposit and withdraw money, account opening, inquire balance and cash transfer through the card.

In his speech Mr. Ehsan Khasru said, “We will be able to deliver our banking service upto union level. But primarily we have selected 1000 areas, specially industrial areas where garments or other big industries workers live or those areas from where many people have migrated.” Besides, district upazilas and those unions where development projects are undergoing will be focused, he added.

Mr. Khasru termed the biometric smart card as secured for the customers in both rural and urban areas compared to other banking options as it will be operated by finger prints and voice sounds.

While drawn his attention on how Prime Bank is going to deliver inclusive banking the Prime bank boss said his bank opened 12 branches in 2011 half of which was opened in rural areas as per the Bangladesh Bank rule. This year too they are going to open another 12 branch at same ratio.

“We are trying to be strategically linked with different organizations who are already working in rural areas like NGOs, MFIs etc rather than physically being present at remote areas,” told Mr. Khasru. Besides, there lots of people who are not taking banking services due to stringent rules and procedure and excess service charges.

Mr. Rashed Mahmud said they have 421 cash points in seven districts. The card is already in operation for the last 15 days which was formally launched Sunday. “There are not cash points in all the upazilas. But our target is to make the cash point number 2000 by the end of 2012. There are 30 cash points in Dhaka,” said Mr. Rashed Mahmud. He said by this year the customer base will be one million which will reach 10 million by 2013 as per the company’s vision. Mentioning about the challenges he said, “it depends how people respond to the new technology and how we can convince the people about the benefits of using this card.”

Prime Cash Launched at Singer Plus

Banking facilities such as disbursement of remitted money, money transfer within the country, cash deposit, withdrawal, account opening are now available at 320 Singer Plus and Singer Mega outlets across the country. Mr. A M Hamim Rahmatullah, Managing Director & CEO of Singer Bangladesh Limited and Vice President – Singer Asia, formally launched Prime Cash service at Gulshan Singer Mega outlet in Dhaka today (Tuesday, June 26, 2012).

Among others, Singer Asia President Mr. Gavin J. Walker, Prime Bank Managing Director Mr. Ehsan Khasru, Dipon Consultancy Services Managing Director & CEO Engineer Rashed Mahmud along with other high officials of concerned companies attended the ceremony. Earlier, Singer and Dipon Consultancy signed an agreement in this regard on March 8, 2012. Prime Cash is a product of Prime Bank Limited.

Prime Cash, a biometric smart card-based virtual wallet account, has been designed to address the banking needs of the un-banked rural and urban people of the country. Prime Cash users will now be able to avail the banking services at Singer Plus and Singer Mega shops with reliability, safety and guarantee of banking system.

The largest home appliances and consumer duration retail chain of the country – Singer Plus & Singer Mega will now make banking service available at door steps of the un-banked people across the country through Prime Cash.

DG Infotech Opts for GP Connect Solutions

Grameenphone has signed an exclusive agreement with DG Infotech to provide them secured connectivity solutions under the Business Solutions package.

DG Infotech is a multinational organization operating in more than five countries in South East Asia and Middle East. One of their focus areas is mobile e-payment technology connected to banking transaction systems. In Bangladesh they are currently working with Prime Bank Ltd. to take the banking service at peoples’ doorsteps. To implement this project nationwide, they have signed this exclusive agreement to acquire 12,000 GP Connect connections from Grameenphone. The client will also sign an exclusive agreement with Grameenphone to deploy Points of Sales terminals across the country.

Comprising of modern mobile telecommunications services for supporting any business needs, Business Solutions provides voice, text messaging & mobile data, and internet services to Grameenphone’s business clients. In addition to this, GP Connect service will provide DG Infotech a complete and secured Mobile Office Solution which includes mobile email, high-speed data access, mobile fax, and many more; providing them the freedom to work from anywhere within Grameenphone’s wide coverage area.

The agreement was signed by Syed Javed Iqbal, Group Director, DG Infotech and Tor Harald Stromsnes, Head of Direct Sales, Grameenphone Ltd., on behalf of their respective organizations.

318+ Singer (BD) Outlets to Act as Prime Cash Service Points

We are happy to announce that, as a part of our ongoing efforts to expand service availability all over the country, on 7th March, 2012, we have signed an agreement with Singer Bangladesh Ltd. to act as one of the corporate agents of Prime Cash Services. From now on, all outlets (318 as of today) of Singer Bangladesh will provide Prime Cash Services and act as Prime Cash Service Point.

Prime Bank and Dipon Sign Agreement on Biometric Smart Card

Prime Bank Limited and Dipon Consulting Services signed a commercial agreement to launch Biometric Smart Card Money Transfer Services at the head office premises of the Bank on 9th August, 2011. Managing Director of Prime Bank Limited M. Ehsanul Haque and Chief Executive Officer of Dipon Consultancy Services Rashed Mahmud signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
